Rolled Roses, Blue Ribbon, White Pearls

1st Communion for Two

Blue fondant board and all cake from there!
Blue, Green, White Rolled Roses are always a neat way to finish off a cake
Hand piping is getting easier and easier, not that I necessarily enjoy it, with more practice though - it flows better!

Gamer Boy

Yes, there are cakes even for gamers! You name it, we've got it - almost!
A vanilla cake filled with chocolate custard and covered in a vanilla fondant

Sophisticated in Gold

A Rhubarb Crunch iced in vanilla buttercream and covered in ivory fondant - overlayed with a pressed floral design. Such a simple cake, but the look is what I was going for (pretty much)!
Always something to improve on, but slowly we're getting there!
These roses were all made petal, by petal, colored in eggplant and sprayed with a gold sheen to finish them off!
Some of my dear grandmothers favorite colors!

Zooming Along...

Definitely a fun cake to work on!
Bottom tier - carrot cake with cream cheese filling and covered in black fondant all rolled into a tire
Middle Tier - Chocolate Mocha, covered in blue fondant and decorated with the flags, name, and quotes page.
Top Tier - Red velvet with vanilla buttercream filling and covered in a red flames
Barry (Daniel's Boss) came and celebrated with Daniel - so we included him on the cake as well!
The "blue Baerry" is an inside joke.
The #24 is for his favorite NASCAR Racer - Jeff Gordon
Some of the quotes we decided to include on this cake
all these written on by hand

This cake is available for rent

Skate Away with Me!

A good hockey player skates where the puck is,
A GREAT hockey player skates where the puck is going to be
-Wayne Gretzky
Was a ton of fun to work on this cake! A lot of little details, made it all come together!
From stitching the "leather together" to stringing the laces, all on top of a carved chocolate and raspberry delight!
The blade

A special thank you to my brother (an auto body technician - so he has an incredible eye for detail) for sticking with me to finish this cake! Four hands make two hours a lot more productive!

Draped Fondant, Quilted pattern, and a Designed Cross

Behold Children are a heritage from the Lord
....and the fruit of the womb is His reward

Had a lot of fun with this cake
with the quilted look, the draped fondant, and the pressed cross...
I've been struggling to blog about the different cakes right away,
so when I finally find time to do it I almost forget
what I was going to write!

This cake was totally worth every second spent on it - to see the look on the little girls face when she came to pick it up! This is what I'm reminded of as I work on the cakes, that no matter how late it gets, how long I've been working on it already, just one more detail will totally make the cake!

Boston Cream in a Whole New Way

Imagine biting into this and discovering it`s not just you`re average cake, but a boston cream?

A fun alternative to a special day

Swirled Into a New Year

I remember when hand-painting on cakes first became big - never thought that I would get into it... however it`s one of those things, if you don`t jump on the bandwagon with both feet - you`re either going to drag behind everyone, or get left behind - both are good recipes for disaster if you are trying to succeed in anything.
I have discovered so many different techniques and have grown to love spending the time, making sure each stroke is just how I like it, blending the colors, and making someone else`s day - just the way they envisioned it - I HOPE!

The Wild Side

Another late night cake! When will I learn?
The #monogram was made completely by hand with fondant & tylose - the more designing I do with these two, the more I find out I can do with them! The possibilities are endless
Had fun designing this cake
Happy Birthday Angie - glad I could have a part in your special day!

Snowflake Birthday

All of us winter babies have a special place in us for snowflakes, icicles, and anything winter!!
Royal Blue and Bright white make an amazing contrast,
tipped with silver - the perfect combination.

Flying High

A fun alternative to just your regular birthday cake!
Why not spice it up a bit and do something special and unique for the special person you're celebrating!

Red, white, and black...

A Cake For Any Occasion

Bottom layer - Vanilla Cake filled with raspberry goodness and wrapped in black vanilla fondant
Top later - chocolate cake filled with candy cane filling, iced in a candy cane icing, and encased in the same vanilla black fondant....

Covered in a collage of bright colors - a fun design for just about any occasion!
A good one would be paintball, but that is just a start

A Nurse's Delight

This was a quick, fun, and easy cake to make! I was taking a friend out for her birthday and figured "what would a birthday be without cake?".
Thanks to all my "nurse" friends who give so selflessly - be blessed!

Ruffled Wedding Cake

20 batches of cake, 4 cont. dye, 20lbs of fondant, and quite a few hours later...
None the less was a fun cake to work on!
Was my white cake each layer of cake was cut into two and filled with raspberry goodness.

I suppose the most challenging thing for me on this cake was to get the roses and rose petals to the "perfect" color! I had dyed the gumpaste and let it sit overnight, four times! Each time at the end it was "perfect" but by the next day was a completely different hue! Hoping to get a closer picture of the flowers eventually:)
Something about being the maid-of-honor and not thinking of getting any shots of the cake.. totally dependent on others.

Thankful I could do this for my sister and even more thankful it was what she was looking for:)
Can't promise, but I hope there are more pictures for me to share later!

Soccer Birthday

It seemed that it was during the busiest time of summer I got the most amount of orders for cakes... isn't that life!! So many nights after everything else was done and everyone was in bed I found myself working on cakes!
This was one of those after midnight cakes - customer was happy. I still see all the imperfections, but like one of my instructor has said - there comes a time were you just have to embrace the imperfections in the cake... they will make the cake unique (taken in the right way of course). Still my aim is for perfection!
This was just my chocolate cake filled with a rich chocolate pudding and fresh raspberries!

Happy Birthday Mikes - hope you had a most enjoyable day! Love you!

Rubber Ducky in My Bubble Bath

Super fun cake to work on - even if it was a last minute one:)
Bottom tier - Carrot cake with cream cheese filling
top tier - vanilla with raspberry filling (by popular demand)

The cake topper was sculpted totally with fondant and all the little bubbles and duckies were done by hand!
It's the little finicky stuff that I love doing:)
Tied off with a matching blue bow!
